is the story of struggle for the title Vahinisaheb which is a prestigious and respectable rank and is accepted by the people of the town where the story is based.

Bhaiyyasaheb Kirloskar is a renowned businessman who has elevated his name and fame in a rural place like Kolhapur. His first wife Kalindi, who was very kind and nice, was first entitled as Vahinisaheb; she too was a respectable figure in their Village. They had a son named Vishwas. After Kalindi demise Bhaiyyasaheb got married to Yamini. Though Bhaiyyasaheb gets married to Yamini, he is against giving the rank of Vahinisaheb to her, because he wants her to achieve it on her own. They have a son and daughter. Yamini is a diplomatic woman who enjoys the position being wife of Bhaiyyasaheb in public, but she is aware that Bhaiyyasaheb has not yet forgotten Kalindi and he always compares Yamini with her. Yamini is little discontent due to his behaviour.

The story begins with Vishwas marrying Bhairavi, without taking his father's permission. Bhaiyyasaheb couldn't bear this and shot Vishwas, which harms Vishwas fatally. Bhairavi stays in Kirloskar family, yet Bhaiyyasaheb has not accepted her as his daughter-in-law. Kirloskar family is disappointed by Bhairavi's presence and they try to trap her in some or the other issues. She is firm enough to take it on and slowly Bhaiyyasaheb realizes warmth and substance in the lady, he starts supporting her and helps her to settle down in family. Vishwas recovers from his injury and comes home. Bhaiyyasaheb decides to leave his house and go on a pilgrimage. He is sure in his mind that Bhairavi is strong enough to take care of the family. Publicly he announces that the esteemed title Vahinisaheb has to be won by either Bhairavi or Yamini, solely depending on their inner strength. Here the battle begins. A struggle between a newly married girl 'Bhairavi' and her step mother-in-law 'Yamini' for gaining the title.

Yamini brother Dinkar had been sent to prison by Bhaiyyasaheb. He holds Bhaiyyasaheb responsible for his family disruption and wants to take revenge. His daughter ‘Nupur’ is now eager to fulfill her father’s wish. He has been released from jail on the day Bhaiyyasaheb left for his Yatra.
